2020 Take Two
With a pandemic currently underway we unhappily had to put our camp hosting in Maine on hold because of travel and quarantine restrictions. Because of the higher populations on the east coast we decided it would be safer and smarter if we headed back west to the wide open public lands and National Forests in North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and Washington.
After boondocking across North Dakota, Montana and Washington while visiting Theodore Roosevelt, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Parks we've decided to spend the winter in Port Townsend on the Northeastern corner of the Olympic Peninsula. Hopefully this time we'll get to capture the PNW in a whole new (colder) way.
2020 Eastern US....nope
We left Illinois at the end of January and headed down to Florida to hide from the snow. We were booked to camp host in Maine the month of July and had the plan to head up the East Coast this year. 2020 had other plans and like most of our fellow full time travelers our plans changed with the Covid-19 pandemic. We boondocked at a WMA and National Forests in Florida but after a month made the decision to head back to Chicago so we could shelter in place with family. Drove over 1000 miles in 48 hours, easily the fastest our little Toyota Sunrader has driven and have been back in Illinois since April. Hanging tight in Illinois doing little repairs to the rv , spending time with family, and waiting for all the beautiful national and state parks to safely reopen.
2019 Western US
In 2019 we traveled all around the Southwest West Coast and the Pacific Northwest. From Volunteering in Bears Ears National Monument to camp hosting in Fort Flaggler on the Olympic Peninsula we saw as much of the western US as we could!
Inaugural Colorado Trip
Before we installed our solar panels, batteries and moved in fully we decided we needed to take a trip to ensure the nomadic lifestyle was something we wanted for sure. So we headed halfway across the country to the mountains of Colorado to visit Rocky Mountain National Park and Red Rocks Amphitheater.
